Even with little fan fare and no newsletter emailed to me :( (I am a subscriber), I still managed to find out that Sonama WireWorks has Riffworks Standard v2 ready for purchase. They did put together a limited FAQ about how to crossgrade from version 1.1.

The website has some much needed navigation improvements :) including a link to RiffCaster, Forums and the new Online Store at the top of each page. However, you do lose this navigation once you go to the FAQ.

The jury is still out on a couple of concerns:

1. Posting songs requires RiffWorks (v2). It appears that you can only post songs now via the RiffWorks software.

  • Pros: You no longer have to email HUGE ogg files.
  • Cons: If this is the case, you will no longer be able to mix your creation using a 3rd party tool like Audacity or Audition.

2. Drummers.

  • Pros: Lots of new drummers available.
  • Cons: Drummers purchased from Line 6 for v1 will not work in v2, until you participate in some cryptic ceremony with Sonoma.

If you crossgrade to the new standard version or upgrade to the Line 6 v2 (once it is available), let me know what you think.

Hi BD..havent been around for awhile..i had a major meltdown of my computer and g.port…had to buy bigger/better comp. and a new gtr port. im unable to acess nothing sonoma related….. randy says sorry, i fell thru the cracks…all these months of beta testing were for naught..still its a good program..i guess i have to wait on line 6 RW Standard…dont mean to cry on your pancakes..sorry friend..just wanted to say hello to you and my other “cyber buds”…oh yea,,to cosole myself i bought a fender special edition strat..2x seymore duncan hums rear mounted, nat. flame maple top on bass wood body. set neck/rosewood f.board..made in korea..600.00 plus,,but the fit and finish are as good as my EJ strat and my high end 1600.00+ ibz rgt..so that helps dry my tears..lol…your friend Dave [aka strat/strato/ect…

Dave, hate to hear about how bad things are, with a new bigger/better computer and new Fender Strat and all. :) I understand your pain. I recently lost my 2 ton 17 inch monitor that took up half of my desk and HAD to replace it with a 19 inch wide LCD.

As far as Sonoma goes, I have been reading the forums, but have not had time to “crossgrade” yet. I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. With my current schedule, it will probably be September before I get a chance to do anything with it. Great to hear from you.

Hello D.. i was a beta tester for RW2,,so i got the whole package,40+drummers.RW2,1 year sub. for rifflink..heres what i say about it..8 out of 10,,The vst [amp]feature means nothing to me as ive all the “amps” i will ever need,,the rifflink feature is not for me.SWW atempt to lock out 3rd party app. is confuseing, why have the “mix to wave” function if sww wont let you post using other apps.[theres ways around that, evident by the last 2 posts i made on r.caster] I will allways use 3rd party apps, i can still post them on r.c but lose alot in quality because of G.Ports mono input. If sww keeps the E.Mail post open,,alls well,if not,oh well….Audacity is free, why didnt sww use that in some way? O.K now the good…looks cool.the record over song layer is good, plenty of drums,,final word…i would have bought it anyway had i not been a beta tester…Its a start..peaceout..Strat

40+ drummers? Too cool. I really like the software. I still haven’t crossgraded yet. I agree with the SWW closing out the 3rd party stuff. It was one of the first things I noticed after the V2 release and I suggested they not do that on their forums. Thanks for your take on this. I look forward to hearing what you have done with this new version. Keep jammin’.

Something to say?
