RiffWorks received a BEST IN SHOW award for the trend setters category at NAMM 2008 because of its online collaboration capabilities and RiffWorld.com!

The Sonoma Wire Works wizards have done it again. Introducing RiffWorld! The programming, engineering and marketing team have taken musical collaborations to another level with RiffLink. Read what Harmony Central has to say about it. And for the Mac users out there read what Mac World has to say.

Now let me tell you about it from a users viewpoint. I have been playing and recording as a hobby and some paying gigs (not really my thing) for more years than I can remember. I have recorded using Sound-on-Sound reel tape decks to 4-track cassette recorders to a variety of DAWs. But, they all frustrated me to the point I just gave up on trying to do any decent recording, until I found RiffWorks. RiffWorks is the main recording component of the Sonoma arsenal. It comes with an Instant Drummer, allows you to Rewire other apps like Reason or Reaper, it has a built in Rex player and also accomdates several VSTs. (Hold on while I catch my breath.)

After getting this wonderful piece of recording software I was enlightened and enchanted by the ease of use and inspired by cranking up the Instant Drummer and just start laying down riffs. Then I saw this thing call RiffLink that was in beta form. So, I naturally kept my distance. Then these self-proclaimed RiffLink Junkies kept telling me, “you have to try this.”

RiffLink has allowed me to jam online and collaborate with people from around the country and around the world. We can chat online while we collaborate and discuss different facets of the song we are creating. It is phenomenal.

But listen, I am a guitar player not a writer. There is no way I could ever do the software or the amazing team at Sonoma justice. You have to try it for yourself. What are you waiting for? Click the link at the top of this post or the one at the bottom of the post.
One of our RiffCaster family recently left town to attend a funeral and upon returning home found that his home had been burglarized and all of his instruments were gone. It goes without saying that loss of a family member is sometimes more than one can bear and then to add insult to injury some low-life violates your home and takes some of your prized possessions. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. I know what a comfort my guitar was to me after the loss of both of my parents.

Rick recorded and posted this song along with these thoughts, “Can’t think of too many things as scary as what happened to Jesse. Good luck gettin your stuff back man.”

This song “Blues Down in Nashville” was born out of the grief from loss. Rick my hat is off to you my man, you are one gifted individual! Thanks for sharing those gifts with us.

Why use guitar artist instead on guitarist; because he doesn’t just play he creates. He did the following recording, “Chet’s Front Porch” which moved me deeply. It was like listening to my Dad pick again. Oh how I miss not hearing him play. So I wanted to personally thank the Sandman for stirring up precious memories of my dad.

If you are looking for a place that has a great and very active forum, look no further than iMusicScene.com.

I can’t thank Dazed enough for his tireless efforts as site administrator. He recently totally revamped the site and it is looking great. iMusicScene.com is an all encompassing site in that, as stated above, it includes a place for musicians to post their music and get feedback from listeners and it includes a very active forum and a chat function that allows users to chat with fellow musicians that are online.

Looking for some backing tracks to record some guitar, piano, trumpet, sax, or kazoo, this site has them. Many tracks were recorded by members of the iMusicScene.com

Maybe you have some musical ideas rolling around in your head and you’d like someone to collaborate with - there is a dedicated forum for that, also.

Here is a song from one of my favorite artist, George Shepherd on iMusicScene.com You can listen to his song “Tiger Eye Blues” below. But be sure to click on his name to see what the Artist page look like. Once you sign up you have a blog, a place for your music, you can create albums and more. AND ALL OF THIS IS FREE!!!!!!!!!!
