Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon‘ celebrates 1500 weeks on Billboard 200 charts. This is one of my all time favorite bands. I can still listen to DSOTM and feel the music. My favorite PF album has to be ‘Meddle‘ - simply incredible, especially Echoes. ‘Wish You Were Here‘ is my next favorite album. I love to listen to Gilmour’s solo on Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Doug Rowell’s, sculptor/wood carver, gallery of carved guitars. Very gifted man. Take a look at his craftsmanship.
This guy plays two guitars an one time. Amazing!
This is just what I’ve been looking for, a $12,999.00 guitar. You have got to go check these custom guitars out at Private Reserve Guitars. I’m not sure what your idea of an expensive guitar is, but since I don’t play professionally, anything over $500.00 is expensive. I keep saying my next purchase will be a Line 6 Variax 600, street price around $800.00.
Went to the Grand Opening of the new Guitar Center last night. My main draw was they had a great deal on some condenser mics that I wanted. The store was set to open at 7:00 PM and I got there about 5:45 and there was already a fairly long line of people waiting. The worst part of the wait was listening to some local radio station’s non-stop hip-hop booming pimped out van parked in front of the store.
Doors opened and the line started moving. Got the obligatory free Tee and I was able to get in with the first crowd. I picked up the microphones and then started checking out the store. I was really happy to see a separate closed acoustic area. They had plenty of guitar models to choose from. They even had the Line 6 Variax, electric and acoustic models set up with the PODxt Live.
Some idiot in management or marketing (probably marketing) thought it would be cool to have an Elvis impersonator. NOT COOL! You don’t have live performers in a music store when you are trying to sell instruments that people want to test drive, especially when the sound of your instrument is being over powered by the live performance.
But granted is was grand opening and from what I could see a very successful one. It was loud, crowded and hectic - but for the 20 minutes that I was there, I enjoyed it. It is always good to have another music store in town.
Introductory Look at Home Studio Recording is an excellent write up with many tips for you to think about if you are thinking about getting into home recording.
While you are there, check out the whole site. Under the lessons link there is disussion about the use of capos, chord progessions, etc.
Hope you find it useful.
Riffcaster Spotlight is shining brightly on Bill. He is a phenomenal player with compositions that emcompasses many musical genres. It is impossible for me to pick a favorite of recording of his.
Rawk It is a sampling that he put together in 10 minutes. Imagine what he could do in 20 minutes.
